All the strikers shown in this page vary in size between 6 to 8 1/2 inches in height (approx). They also vary in thickness (diameter). The darker looking ones are in hard wood while the whiter ones are in softwood. The presence of leather or felt on any one model adds to the price of either plain or carved strikers .

An all-around striker, half covered in leather is pictured below. The size of the mallet is 7½ inches and weight 100 grams. The leather is ideal for bass sounds while the wooden part of the mallet is used to produce high pitched vibrations. Leather is associated with Healing Art; Wood is associated with meditation.
